Winter to Spring HVAC Tips for an El Nino in South Florida

While Spring may seem like a distant memory right now, we are not far away from what we expect to be a wet and unpredictable Spring season.

Due to this being an El Nino year – and potentially one of the strongest ever, according to many experts – it is important you take time now to perform a thorough check-up on your HVAC systems as soon as you can. While El Nino often means wet weather for our region, it also means unpredictable weather, and as such all homeowners need to be ready for just about anything as we shift from Winter to Spring.

Here are some things to keep in mind as we prepare for the upcoming Spring season:

  1. You want to inspect and replace your Air Conditioning filters every month. For folks like us, who live in a humid environment, this is very important to stay on top of. If you live in Cooper City, Coral Springs, West Boca, Plantation, Miramar, Pembroke Pines or any of the surrounding area, and you are not sure the last time you have changed your filters or have had a maintenance performed, Please CONTACT US to have a trained service professional come to your home.
  2. Many A/C units have a drainage hole (condensate drain line). This area needs to be kept clear to make sure your AC unit is working properly. If left untreated a blockage could occur, either causing downtime on your system or a water leak leading to damage inside your home. Contact us to make sure this hole is cleaned out effectively so you do not run into any issues during climate weather.
  3. Our Peak Performance Maintenance Agreement (PDF), or Tune-Up, is a complete service of your air conditioning equipment, which all manufacturers recommend be completed twice annually (Once in the Spring & Once in the Fall) to help prolong the life of your equipment.

These are just a few of the many important steps you want to take as we shift from the winter to the spring seasons. Experts say we could have one of the wettest seasons ever, and while they are wrong as often as they are right, you don’t want to take any chances.

Call the professionals on our team today and we will send out a certified trained technician to perform a full check up on you system. Don’t wait until its too late!

As always, we value your family’s safety and comfort first. From the team at HI-VAC Air Conditioning Service, we wish you the best!
