3 Signs of a Faulty AC Compressor in Plantation, FL
Without a functioning compressor, your AC will not be able to keep your Plantation, FL home comfortable this fall. Because of this, it’s beneficial if you can spot compressor issues. Here are three signs that your compressor is faulty.
1. Diminished Performance
To do its work, your AC needs the refrigerant that flows through it to evaporate and condense repeatedly. It evaporates in the evaporator coils and condenses in the condenser coils, but before it can do the latter, the compressor must sufficiently raise its temperature and pressure levels.
Without a functional compressor, your system’s efficiency and effectiveness will take a nosedive. If the compressor completely fails, your AC will not work at all. Even if its performance declines only slightly, the rest of your system will function below peak performance.
2. Loud Noises
When your compressor is in trouble, it will probably start giving you indications you can hear. You may begin to hear all sorts of unusual noises, including rattling, banging, buzzing or grinding.
Each of these noises points to a different problem. For example, rattling might mean there’s debris inside the compressor, while buzzing might suggest electrical issues and grinding might indicate that certain parts of the compressor lack adequate lubrication. To help deal with these difficulties, you must provide your AC with either annual or semi-annual maintenance.
3. Refrigerant Leaks
If your compressor has sustained some kind of physical damage, refrigerant will be much more likely to leak out of it. If it leaks out in liquid form, you may notice mysterious puddles forming around the compressor. If it leaks out while it’s a gas, you may hear hissing noises.
Refrigerant is extremely hazardous. We cannot warn you strongly enough to never handle it on your own. When you notice this problem, always request professional assistance.
Leaving your AC’s compressor in a precarious state can leave you uncomfortable in your home. If you live around Plantation, FL, call the HI-VAC Air Conditioning Service and schedule our HVAC repair services today.
